Play Therapy
Child-directed play gives children a developmentally appropriate way to communicate feelings and experiences. Kristen also works with caregivers to understand the needs behind behavior and support emotional regulation.
Our Services / Specialized Services
Some needs call for approaches that reach beyond conversation alone. Child-directed play, EMDR, trauma-focused care, and therapeutic yoga offer different ways to explore difficult experiences, strengthen coping, and support mind-body connection.

The focus
Our specialized offerings are selected with attention to age, experience, therapeutic goals, and clinician availability.
What to expect
These methods support different needs. Play Therapy uses a child's natural language of play; EMDR and trauma-informed psychotherapy can address distressing experiences; and yoga-informed work introduces movement, breath, and mindfulness.
During an initial conversation, we can discuss which approach best fits your goals, how it may be integrated into care, and which trained clinicians are currently available.
Specialized approaches
Child-directed play gives children a developmentally appropriate way to communicate feelings and experiences. Kristen also works with caregivers to understand the needs behind behavior and support emotional regulation.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a structured psychotherapy approach used to help process distressing experiences. Whether EMDR is an appropriate option depends on individual needs and clinician assessment.
Trauma-informed care attends to how difficult experiences affect emotions, relationships, and bodily responses. Treatment is paced collaboratively and may draw from mindfulness, attachment-based therapy, and other approaches when appropriate.
Informed by Kristen's experience as a registered yoga instructor and former yoga therapist at Children's Hospital Colorado, these practices can incorporate movement, breathing, and mindfulness to support regulation and coping. Explore Yoga Therapy.
