There are many things I feel when I hear the name Kristen Chamberlain. Grateful, inspired, and encouraged are a few that sit at the forefront of my mind. I remember how many mixed emotions my husband and I were feeling about 5 years ago. From extreme worry to extreme anger and everything in between. We were so fortunate to be put in touch with Kristen because she clicked with my child and my family instantly. I never felt judged or like I was a poor parent. She makes talking so easy and she is very empathetic. I’ve told her many times that I wish I could create a “pocket-sized Kristen” to carry with me everywhere because she always seems to know exactly what to say and exactly how to say it.
My child felt completely comfortable being themselves and talking with Kristen. In fact, over the months and years, all of my children began arguing over who got to see Kristen at the appointments because they all enjoyed connecting with her so much. My husband and I have even had some sessions with Kristen in order to help us better understand and nurture our growing family. Within the last year as my children get older, we continue to face new challenges as all families will. My children see Kristen as a safe place to go if they don’t feel like they can talk to my husband or I. I love having Kristen in our lives and am so grateful my family has such an incredible person to help us navigate the world!

Finding the right therapist is not simply about credentials or techniques. It is also about feeling understood, respected, and safe enough to show up honestly. The experiences below are individual reflections and do not promise a particular outcome for someone else's care.

These reflections speak to different parts of Kristen's work, from creating trust with children and families to collaborating with other professionals in trauma-informed and yoga-based care.
Kristen had a positive and friendly attitude. As she helped me, I felt more comfortable talking with her. I knew I could trust her. If there was anything I didn’t want to talk about she didn’t make me. She helped me with my problems and made me feel better about it. She provided me with helpful materials and other activities that are fun for children. I’m glad I don’t need counseling anymore but I miss her.
Kristen worked with our family and in particular our 9 year old son during a very difficult family time. Not only was she a kind, calming presence for my son, but for me as well. She was patient in earning my son’s trust and worked with him at his pace, combining both individual and family counseling sessions to meet his comfort level. She was creative and thoughtful in her interactions, using art and physical activity as part of therapy, and most importantly used his own interests to engage him. She was very perceptive in identifying his fears, helped his awareness of his own feelings, and gave him tools to help reduce his fear and anxiety. He is much more confident and better able to talk about his feelings as a result of working with Kristen. She was a ray of light during what was a very dark time, and I will be forever grateful to her.
I have worked with Kristen Chamberlain on multiple professional levels, from co-facilitation of trainings, to teaching yoga together. Kristen has provided me with expertise in the field of yoga, therapeutic connections with children, trauma and the body, and social emotional learning.
Kristen is an essential support person for me providing services to our community, and I am grateful for her experience and leadership. She currently helps me coordinate and teach for Bloom Yoga. A yoga program through Illuminate Colorado that brings trauma-informed, accessible yoga to kids, youth, and families in child welfare and beyond.
Kristen's ability to connect with kids and families is fun to watch, my kids adore her too! She is best of the best in my book, thank you Kristen for all you do in our community!!!
Kristen and I first came to know each other almost 15 years ago, and I have loved watching her professional growth--and learning from her in the process. She is simply one of the most thoughtful, purposeful, and creative therapists I know. Kristen's professional discipline and her drive to be the best that she can be, have contributed to a vibrant and skilled therapist. I am happy to have her on my referral list.
