Connecting mind and body through movement, breath, and awareness

Yoga Therapy brings accessible movement, breathing techniques, mindfulness, and body awareness into therapeutic care. The goal is not perfect poses. It is creating another way to notice, regulate, and respond to what is happening within.

The focus

What we can explore together

Yoga-based practices can be adapted to age, comfort, and therapeutic goals. They may be incorporated alongside other approaches when body-based support feels useful.

  • Breath and body awareness
  • Mindfulness and grounding
  • Regulation and coping skills

Experience and approach

Therapeutic practice informed by yoga

Yoga can offer connection and support, even from a distance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kristen guided clients through remote yoga practices to help them stay connected and supported. If you’re curious about her approach, watch her video for a glimpse of what practicing together remotely can look like.

Kristen is a trained, registered yoga instructor. Before entering private practice, she worked at Children's Hospital Colorado as a Yoga Therapist with the Ponzio Creative Arts Therapy program, where she used yoga postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices with children facing a range of emotional and behavioral challenges.

Yoga as a mental health modality continues to develop. Movement, breath work, mindfulness, and meditation may support areas such as self-regulation, coping, stress tolerance, self-esteem, connection, and impulse control. These practices are considered in the context of each person's needs rather than as a one-size-fits-all intervention.

A different way to engage

Therapy can include more than conversation

For some children and families, movement and sensory experience can make therapeutic concepts more approachable. Yoga Therapy creates room to practice awareness and regulation in ways that feel active, concrete, and connected to the body.
